Snapshot of other lives
So I started this whole thing off with my bright idea about sharing something of who we are when we aren’t discussing cancer. Part of my reasoning was that we know such intimate things about each other, and sometimes surprisingly little about the “ordinary” details of our lives…like I never knew that Cancer Culture Chronicles is an Aussie – how did I not know that?! AND that she once kept a pet goat called Cookie.
ChemoBabe is a professor of mathematics education, married her high school sweetheart and loves the sound of the cello. The Accidental Amazon was almost a rock star in another life!
I love the fact that Luann has lived in Germany and Japan and that Uneasy Pink once drove all night to tour Graceland and then drove straight back to the bar with a shotglass (7 hrs each way)!
I first met Jackie online when she shared a poem for my Poetry Friday slot and now she reveals that two of her poems are going to be in a forthcoming anthology of Nebraska women poets called The Untidy Season – go Jackie!
This is just a small snapshot of our other lives and I am looking forward to learning so much more about all my favourite bloggesses. I hope you will share in this fun exercise and to give you all lots of time to do this (for I know that your other lives keep you busy!) I will leave things open for the month of June to allow you enough time to blog about it.
It’s been fun to uncover little glimpses of other lives..can’t wait to uncover more…
How did I miss Katie’s shot glass story? Marie, I love this! Thank you!
I found out Anna and I are both House Hunters International junkies. This is way too much fun.
And thank you even more for the “deadline extension” for our blogs. I was going to e-mail or tweet you to ask about that 🙂

Anna, I’m sure you know by now that House Hunters International is in Australia this week.
Jackie, I was a lot dumber when I was in my 20s. 🙂 I was definitely more immortal.
Thank you Marie. This is fun.

Thanks so much for these snippets of others’ lives. How fun to learn about my fellow blogesses. I’ll get to my post, soon, if my other life would calm down a bit. 🙂
XOXOXO,

What a great exercise! I didn’t know anything about all these people I’ve come to know and respect!
Regarding me: I oil paint and draw. I adopted my daughter from China almost two years ago and studied Mandarin to prepare for my trip (not necessary but I love languages and figured what the heck?). And I have two cats.

This is just wonderful!!! I love these snippets – what interesting lives (“other” and otherwise 😉 ) we all lead. Can you imagine the fascinating conversations we could have if sharing these fact to face?
In my “other life” I’ve had a ball this past decade – lots of hard work, but an amazing journey working in the Education sector in international development (advising and managing programmes), living in Nepal, Mongolia, India, Sri Lanka and now Myanmar. My family back in Scotland kind of despair of me as I have got myself into a few scrapes in that time! Including the 2004 earthquake and tsunami!
But my favourite snippet is that my hubby shares the same name as the King of Bhutan (Jigme). He’s not the King though, or that would make Queen, which I am definitely not 😉

In my other life, I was once offered a singing gig in Las Vegas (where would I be now if I had gone down that road???) I love Yoga, knitting, baking and living within walking distance of school, library (I couldn’t live without my books!) and shops. I love the simple life and country music. I am a proud Irishwoman but spent some of the best years of my life in London.
Love this Marie and really enjoying getting to know you all a litttle better

Great idea! You ladies lead some very interesting lives 🙂
In my “other” life, I’m a writer/editor who teaches journalism as an adjunct at two Westchester County (NY) institutions of higher learning. I love teaching, but each time I get close to an associate/assistant professorship, I balk and remember how comfy I am working in my bunny slippers for most of the day…
I’m also a black belt in USA Goju karate. I started training smack in the middle of radiation (yeah, I know – probably not the best time to begin, but). I love hitting stuff and screaming like a banshee 🙂 I also love teaching adults and kids karate. My son and I tested side-by-side for our black belts and my hubby-to-be just started about a month ago. Love making him do pushups, hee-hee. I also coach track and field (high jump) and love that, too…
Thanks for asking 🙂
