Singer, Melissa Etheridge, who was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago, is promoting a month-long breast cancer awareness program at the Hard Rock Cafe. Melissa maintains that she is healthier now than she ever was before cancer, being more aware of what it means to make healthy diet and lifestyle choices. Cancer, she says, is a wake up call, and your life will never be the same again. You can take this and use the lesson to tranform your life.
I love Melissa’s advice for anyone newly diagnosed with cancer – you are not alone and you are more powerful than you realise. Our health is ours, she says, and we give away our power to others too easily. “Listen to yourself and your body – you know more than you think you know”.

I agree that we must listen to ourselves and our bodies because we do know them best. I also know that when you are first diagnosed it can be REALLY hard to do because of the fear, shock, and disbelief of what live has just handed you.
I also believe it has shown me that I am more powerful than I knew and gives me the confidence that I can face anything and win.
Thanks for posting!
Thank you Deb – you make a good point about feeling frozen when you are first diagnosed. I like to think i am a pretty confident able to stand up for herself kind of woman but that all deserted me, when I heard the word cancer!
I KNOW that you CAN face anything life throws at you with grace and strength x
She is my INSPIRATION.
I’m a breast cancer survivor and thriver. Just found this DVD “The Path of Wellness & Healing” at a conference and it’s the best resource i have EVER seen for anyone with breast cancer or their families. My husband was given SO MANY BOOKS and who has the time to read when you’re dealing with something like this? This DVD is a one-stop shop that walks you through the entire bc experience with celeb survivors like MELISSA ETHERIDGE, Sheryl Crow, Christina Applegate, plus bigtime doctors like Deepak Chopra and Dean Ornish. So educational and inspiring. http://breastcancerdvd.org.
